Single – We Found Love – Palma Violets

Ooo! Palma Violets have just whacked out another single from their debut album 180… yes, track number 9 – better known as We Found Love was released this week onto a slick white 7″ and it’s no surprise that I myself found love for this three-minute blast of fun, which bangs the urgency of The Libertines alongside the hopeless romanticism of The Smiths

So why’s there shitloads of hype behind it? I’ll tell you why – it’s clever and what’s more infectiously catchy. Yup, not only do we hear co-vocalists Chilli Jesson and Sam Fryar roar about the ball aching pains of love, but the imperative chorus tells of one’s intentions to ‘find a lady friend and stick by her until the end’ perfectly relatable isn’t it? Lovers and loners can let off equal amounts steam to this and it’s safe to say that seeing scrappy indie youth mosh about to We Found Love will be a common sight on the festival circuit this summer. (I’ll be one of them.)

Other than that it’s everything we’d expect from the Lambeth lads… as always their striking passion really hits home, and like any other Palma’s tune it triggers a stark buzz of anticipation within for their set at Glastonbury’s Park Stage next month. Mmm those tasty, audacious guitar lines just scream, fuck yes, let’s get drunk.

From one music lover to another, I sincerely recommend that you buy the limited vinyl from Rough Trade… because the B-Side features a ridiculously fun Ramones cover. Here’s a link.
